Mining
For mining, the availability and proper management of water is key to its long-term sustainability. The entire process for mineral processing requires water, whether it be flotation, leaching or any other kind used.
A mine generates large amounts of highly concentrated wastewater due to contact between water and various types of minerals. In addition, rain that infiltrates the tailings of the mine can also cause oxidation, hydrolysis, washing, etc. producing a highly contaminated wastewater.
The contact between minerals and water, by process or rain, can produce distinct reactions. The effluents produced are of diverse compositions, depending upon the nature of each mineral, since there are those soluble, hydrolysable and non-hydrolysable, as well as sorbents and non-sorbents. Thus, the discharge of such wastewater can provoke serious consequences in mining and its environment by completely altering water chemistry.
Wastewater from extractive operations (bauxite, coal, copper, gold, silver, diamonds, iron, precious metals, lead, limestone, magnesite, nickel, phosphate, oil shale, rock salt, tin, uranium, molybdenum) is acidic or alkaline and contains heavy metals.
Elgressy understand that the supply of properly conditioned water has a crucial influence on productivity and process quality and offer customized solutions for the following water treatment applications:
Wastewater treatment – EEC/EEO:
Elgressy designs and manufactures electrocoagulation and
electro-oxidation systems for pre and primary treatments for all types of
food processing wastewater.
Advantages:
- Cost effective and reliable- rapid return of investment.
- Reduces maintenance, shut down time and labor costs.
- Eliminates the need for expensive and harmful chemicals.
- Very low life cycle cost and electricity consumption.
Cooling Tower treatment – EST:
EST provides a comprehensive and effective solution to the problems
associated with cooling towers, namely scale, corrosion and
biocontamination.
Advantages:
- Cost effective and reliable- rapid return of investment.
- Generates significant water savings
- Eliminates the need for expensive and harmful chemicals.
- Very low life cycle cost and electricity consumption.
- Reduces maintenance, shut down time and labor costs.
- Simple retrofit with small footprint.
Corrosion Prevention – ECP:
ECP is an effective and innovative electrolysis technology developed to protect the inner surfaces of hot and cold-water pipes and tanks against corrosion and scale.
Advantages:
- Rapid results - Immediate prevention of new corrosion-accumulation and stoppage of “red water”.
- Versatile – Effective in hot and cold-water systems, water tanks and all pipe composition.
- Safe drinking water - no adverse effect on water quality or taste.
- Low operational cost - low energy use and low water consumption rates.
- Cost effective – low energy consumption, prevents blockages and equipment damage.
- Very low life cycle cost and electricity consumption.
